The name may bewilder you to think about city streets in Stockholm packed with cars, shops and people. But no – Stockholmsgata nature reserve are so far away from anything like that I can promise you.
About a week ago I did a impulsive trip to have my first look at this area. It took more than an hour to drive from my home, and the last 20 kilometers was on more or less bumpy gravel roads in the “middle of nowhere” (the car really looked like shit when I got home that evening), but well worth the “effort” indeed!
By the parking area there are wind sheds, fireplaces including wood, a toilet and also a cabin nearby, so you will probable survive the excursion in any weather conditions 😀
Me and puppy went straight ahead along the marked trail, and after about 30 minutes slowly ascending along the canyon we reached the view-point on a cliff. We only met a friendly couple during this hike, so the silence in this area was absolutely wonderful, but I am sure the place are more frequently visited during summer time.
On our way back we fortunately took the time to follow the trail at the very bottom of the canyon, here I found lots of beauty made by nature, long cool icicles, lush moss and lichen, ice formations popping up and frozen plants in the pond – very nice colours and contrasts against the snow – even if the sun did not reach down here anymore that day.
Next time I take the trip to Stockholmsgata I will for sure spend some more time here exploring what I find interesting here – and hopefully be able to show you some more photos from this area.. stay tuned alright…
It was just a couple of minus degrees up there that day, so not very cold at all, but some hot tea from my thermos sure did taste good well back in the car again. The drive home was absolutely beautiful while the sun was going down… love moments like that – and I probable love driving too! 😀
