Norway Highlights – Hiking and Biking Lofoten

I invite you to have a quick glimpse and perhaps find travel inspiration from these awesome moments extracted from hiking and bicycling in Lofoten this summer (including the Norddal area where I worked).  Later I will post more information for everyone that are interested in visiting these godsmacking areas - cuz, who the heck aren't???   As you can see...it's not nature [...]

Lofoten

Sitting here in Narvik this evening with stars in my eyes looking back at the last weeks adventure along Lofoten. I almost can't believe how wonderful these days have been stuffed with lovely people, hard work, relax, wild camping and biking/hiking in absolutely godsmacking scenarios. Selfie: From yesterday's wild camping spot with a view       [...]

Norway bike hike (Part 4): Sognefjord

Finally my last post from last summer's bicycle tour in Norway. I guess it's about time since my next coming bike hike adventure tour is just round the corner. In the last bike-hike post I left Krossbu and was biking over Sognefjellet, and now the lovely downhill roads was waiting after the ascend upwards all [...]

Rowing Workout Outdoor

So how to "keep in shape" while there's no access to a gym out here in the end of a fjord arm? I think I'm pretty happy about no gym here ... these days I actually find them pretty boring!) Instead it's hiking, uphill running, climbing and bicycling that are most interesting ..and available  ... and now [...]

Tafjordfjella hikes

The latest weeks I have enjoyed several hikes in parts of Tafjordfjella. The following three hikes are all easily reachable during a day hike, but can be continued to wherever you choose to go into "fjellheimen" for days. I have also linked to some maps and detailed information from other hikers at Ut.No, Stikkut and Peakbook in case [...]

Skageflå hike

Busy little bee at work Our Norwegian Queen adores this place - and now I understand why. The hike started when I jumped off the shuttle boat at Skagehola and more than 130 tourists gathered in the front to wave me goodbye. I was the only one to disembark, and they probably wondered where the heck [...]

Trollstigen cycle climb

Almost can't believe that I yesterday bicycled up Trollstigen with my cheap and heavy trek bike including luggage and a backpack. After a hiking day in Åndalsnes I headed back to work in Tafjord on my bicycle, and when people asked I said I most probably would walk up Trollstigen like I did last year, but [...]

Hurtigruten MS Polarlys

Yeah! Finally back in Norway again! After just 2 days at home I again packed my bags and headed for Norway. When asked to work at the power and avalanche center in Tafjord again I did not hesitate - of course I would! First I had to fly over for a short visit/stopover at my  family's place on [...]

Norway Bike Hike (Part 3): Sognefjellsvegen and Krossbu

Bicycling along Sognefjellsvegen Route 55 was nothing less but spectacular! If I had stopped for everything I considered "picturesk" - I would still be up there!   So, after a couple of days in wonderful Lom I packed up my tent, saddled my bicycle and continued towards Sognefjellet. In glittering sunshine I started on the [...]

Ice climbing in ice caves – Larsbreen glacier

Where the wind cannot reach you. Just look at this beauty folks - it's simply magnificent glittering art made by nature . I believe this must be a part of a frozen UFO..ha..ha.. 😉   So, the main goal for my quick trip to Svalbard was to do a frozen ice climb in the dark ice caves [...]

Svalbard

So, what can you do when the heat is "unbearable"(I can't stand it) and the pollen allergy is becoming a real pain ..well, you could escape to a better place -  Svalbard! I decided to jumped on a short budget stay in Longyearbyen - and here I am now this late evening, sitting alone in the chilly wind [...]

Norway Bike Hike (Part 2): Galdhøpiggen and Jotunheimen

So the bike tour continued to roll. I fully enjoyed this feeling of freedom with no obligations, no time to keep and no strict plan. I made a lot of stops, mostly because I was not able to shut down my always observing "photoeye" - everything is interesting! Just like during my warmup bikehike-tour to [...]

Norway Bike Hike (Part 1): Geiranger and Norddal

The goal was neither to go highest, deepest, fastest, furthest or toughest - I would bike, hike and rest whenever and wherever I wanted - no stress - just be!  Finally the time had come for my very own "10-day-moment" and my trek bike was packed and ready to roll on a roadtrip. The Norwegian highway [...]

Sova under bar himmel..

Bergensbanen: Hardangervidda, Rallarvegen and salmon fishing
